Driving while under the influence is a very serious charge. By law, if you plead or are found guilty, the court must impose certain penalties including a fine and court costs, DUI school, community service and a suspension of your license. In certain cases, the court may order an ignition interlock device which prevents the driver from starting their car if they have alcohol on their breath. The Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles can also take action. If your blood alcohol level is above the legal limit, or if you refuse to take a breath test, the Department can susepend or revoke your license for a period of months or years. Their is administrative review process that may preserve your privilege to drive in the State of Florida, but this process must be initiated immediately after your arrest or you may forfeit your right to pursue it. Scott Andringa has handled many DUI cases, both as a prosecutor and as a defense lawyer. He is familiar with both the court and administrative procedures that will enable you to obtain the best result possible. |
